Hey Y’all!,

I wanted to post a life update because over these past couple weeks my life had changed pretty drastically. The clock finally struck zero, all the anticipation and months of patiently waiting has now come to an end. For the next four weeks I am going to be located in Gainesville, GA. I am already a week and a half in and it feels like I have been here a month! The days are long but so rewarding. I am not going to lie, everything has not been so easy breezy. Living in a tent and showering in a storage container is anything but glamorous, but I would not change it for the world.

My first week here had been more emotionally and mentally exhausting rather than physically. I can sleep in a tent and rough it with little to no issues but the lingering reminder that I am not going home next week and that this is not just summer camp eventually takes a toll on you. My day to day that I am used to back home is drastically different from the new normal that will be my life for the next year. I am ready to be humbled and stripped from any comfort I once had. I have seen The Lord heal physical and mental burdens already and I’m only in the second week of training camp! I am so excited to grow even closer to him and know him as a Father even more.

One of the main lessons that The Lord has placed on my heart since arriving is how important it is to honor others. Over the next nine months I will be living with the same 37 people so there are bound to be times when we all do not get along so ultimately I am learning how to love each and every one of them well. Honor is not what you get it is what you give. I am very excited to learn how to pursue God and all the other 37 great individuals.

My training camp consists of 6 weeks, the first four being in Gainesville, GA and the last two I will spend doing domestic outreach. In the middle of October me and my squad will be traveling to New Orleans, Louisianna to work with Samaritans Purse to help with hurricane relief. I am super pumped to be a part of something bigger than myself and to be here serving The Lord!

With Love,

Evelyn
